This unique farmhouse is an adventure in itself; there is no electricity and its water supply is drawn from a private spring. Gaslights, open fire, kitchen with Rayburn stove and candles galore – creates a romantic atmosphere, where you can soak in a candle lit bath, luxuriating with a dram to hand, in the peaty Islay water. An oil fired central heating system ensures that the house is kept at a comfortable temperature; there are no TVs, phones or wifi here, but plenty of books and board games to help escape from the all too ubiquitous technology of the modern world.
The Farmhouse kitchen is well equipped, with a gas cooker as well as the Rayburn and a small gas powered fridge. Upstairs there are traditionally furnished double, twin and single bedrooms and yes, you will need to take your candle with you to bed! Outside there is an enclosed garden, perfect for kids or dogs with lovely sea views and access across the fields to a sandy beach (approximately 200 yards). What could be better than donning wellies and bathers and going for an early morning dip on a summer day?
The careful mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings, plus a glowing fire of coal and freshly cut garden flowers from Ardtalla Estate garden, will allow you to relax, draw breath and unwind in comfort and tranquillity. You will be met with home baking, tea and fresh milk on arrival so you can put your feet up straight away!
